Masayuki Kurokawa

Masayuki Kurokawa was born in Nagoya, Japan in 1937. After graduating from the Nagoya Institute of Technology and completing his doctorate at Waseda University, he established Masayuki Kurokawa Architect & Associates in 1967. In 2001, for encouraging more young people to join designing, he created the website called Designtope. His works span multiple fields of architecture, interior, furniture, and products. He won lots of international awards such as the Design of the Day, German IF Award, and Good Design Golden Award. His works are part of permanent collections in art institutions such as the Museum of Modern Art, New York, Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York and the Denver Art Museum.

Known as the "Godfather of Japanese Design", Masayuki Kurokawa has become a well-known industrial designer from finding another way of the architectural world. Successfully blending eastern and western aesthetic concepts, he has created his iconic elegant style.
